At least 29 people, including a police officer, were killed Tuesday in attacks by armed bandits in northwest Nigeria's Kaduna state.
The attacks occurred in the villages of Maro and Kachia in Kajuru and Kachia districts, police commissioner Ahmad Abdurrahman told a news briefing in the state capital, Kaduna.
“Many houses and a police van were torched during the attacks,” he said.
Abdurrahman said several others were injured in the attacks, which locals said were carried out by over a hundred armed men.
Civilians in Kaduna have come under increasing attack by suspected cattle thieves and criminal gangs.
