The US on Monday announced visa restrictions on 75 individuals allegedly tied to affiliates of Mexico’s Sinaloa Cartel.
In a statement, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the measures target family members and close personal or business associates of individuals already sanctioned under Executive Order 14059.
The move is part of President Donald Trump’s broader effort to “eradicate narco-terrorist cartels operating in our hemisphere,” Rubio said.
He added that the restrictions aim to block entry into the US and deter continued involvement in illicit activities linked to the Sinaloa Cartel.
The cartel, designated by Washington as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, is accused of trafficking fentanyl and other narcotics into the US.
