KABUL
Afghan President Hamid Karzai has signed death certificates for five men convicted of the rape of four women last month.
Another two men convicted of the Paghman gang rape were jailed for 20 years each.
The gang stopped four cars on Qargha-Paghman road the night of August 22, robbed the occupants and kidnapped and raped the women.
Karzai’s spokesman Aimal Faizi tweeted that the president signed off on the death penalties on Saturday.
It was one of Karzai’s last acts as president before he hands over to successor Ashraf Ghani on Monday.
