Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki met with Prime Minister of the regional administration in north of Iraq Nechirvan Barzani on Sunday in Irbil and decided to activate the joint reconciliation committee which deals with the issues between the Iraqi government and the regional administration.
Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki met with the head of the regional administration in north of Iraq, Barzani in a meeting that was closed to the press corps in Irbil.
Two leaders held a press conference after the meeting that lasted one and half hours in Irbil.
Barzani began his speech by saying "l want to say 'welcome' to Maliki" and added, "we held the meeting to solve the issues that Iraq have faced with".
"Let's solve the problem calmly and friendly. The constitution should be the arbitrator to solve the problems between us and be taken as a basis".
Barzani noted that the joint reconciliation committee which established previously to deal with the issues between the Iraqi government and the regional administration will be activated after this meeting.
"We have even determined the names of committee members," said Barzani.
In a response to a question whether Barzani would visit Baghdad, Barzani said "yes we will see that will happen and hopefully, Maliki and I will go together to mountains and visit Rewanduz and Baran regions".
Maliki said "we are brothers and Mr. Barzani hopefully will be in Baghdad soon."
