LEFKOSA
President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyrpus (TRNC) Dervis Eroglu has said Turkish Cypriots already fulfilled their responsibility for solution, nobody should ask for more.
Speaking at traditional Pier Festival's opening ceremony in Lefkosa on Thursday, Eroglu said that the Greek Cypriots would be more pro-agreement on negotiating table if "inhumane" embargoes imposed on Turkish Cypriots were removed and United Nations (UN) reviewed its decision on non-recognition of the TRNC.
Eroglu emphasized, as Turkish Cypriots already fulfilled their responsibility for solution, nobody should ask for more.
Eroglu added, UN's recognizing southern Cyprus as the continuation of the Republic of Cyprus, and the Europen Union's (EU) unilateral accepting it as a member, were important causes of the stalemate.
"Their duty is to warn Greek Cypriots instead of us," said Eroglu, adding, "We will keep on working for a sustainable and viable peace agreement in the island, however no agreement without public support would be successful."
