ISTANBUL
Istanbul Modern museum will throw open its doors on the longest day of the year as part of an initiative backed by influential Japanese artist Yoko Ono.
The event is part of an international organization called Yoko Ono Morning Peace 2015, organizers said Wednesday.
Istanbul Modern said art workshops for different age groups, a yoga session and a tea workshop as well as recitals plus concerts would take place on June 21.
The museum's temporary exhibitions will also be open to visitors from 05.30 a.m. (local time) onwards free of charge; the program will continue until midday.
The organization celebrates New York-based Museum of Modern Arts exhibition Yoko Ono: One Woman Show, 1960-1971 and the 50th anniversary of Ono’s New York performance of Morning Piece (1964) to American artist George Maciunas.
Istanbul Modern said that Yoko Ono Morning Peace 2015 will continue for 24 hours as the sun rises in different time zones.
