The Consumer Confidence Index increased in May when compared to April in 2012.
Turkstat, Turkey's statistical authority, said on Monday that the index, which was 91.1 in April 2012, rose 1.1 percent and became 92.1 in May 2012.
TurkStat's monthly Consumer Tendency Survey was carried out with consumers' assessments on current situation and their expectations for personal financial standing and general economic situation as well as their expenditure tendencies for near future.
The consumer confidence index can take value between 0-200. It indicates an optimistic outlook when the index is above 100, but it gives a pessimistic outlook when it is below 100.
