ANKARA
Production and turnover in Turkey's construction sector on annual basis increased in the first quarter of 2012.
According to TurkStat, Turkey's statistical authority, turnover in construction increased 2.9 percent in the first quarter of 2012 compared to the first quarter of 2011.
Turnover index in building construction reached from 85.4 to 86.2, increasing 0.9 percent; turnover index in civil engineering reached from 72.1 to 76.9, increasing 6.6 percent compared to the first quarter of 2011.
Production in construction increased 3.6 percent. The quarterly production index in construction increased 3.6 percent in the first quarter of 2012 compared to the same quarter of 2011.
Production index in building construction reached from 98.2 to 102.8, increasing 4.7 percent; production index in civil engineering fell down from 131.7 to 131.3, decreasing 0.3 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
