ANKARA
Russia’s daily natural gas delivery to Turkey via the West Line pipeline returned to normal levels following President Vladimir Putin’s visit on Dec. 1.
Natural gas levels from the pipeline were nearly 50 percent lower than normal levels for the past month.
According to official sources who did not want to be identified, gas pumped via West Line has increased from 26 million cubic meters to 33 million cubic meters per day. Contract levels allow for a daily maximum of 42 million cubic meters.
Turkey's daily natural gas consumption during winter is estimated at 190 million cubic meters. The decline in Russian gas was equivalent to 8.5 percent of Turkey's daily needs.
