ANKARA
Turkey's stock exchange fell 0.10 percent, or 89.00 points, to open at 93,100.27 points on Wednesday.
On the third transaction day of the week, the banking and holding sector indices decreased 0.24 percent and 0.21 percent, respectively.
Among all sector indices, the tourism sector index posted the best performance, up 0.82 percent, while the wholesale and retail trade sector index saw the worst decline, losing 0.74 percent.
On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 closed at 93,189.27, down 0.77 percent, or 726.28 points, with a trade volume of around 5.9 billion Turkish liras ($880.8 million).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose slightly to 6.6980 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday. It was 6.6820 at Tuesday's close.
The euro/lira exchange rate climbed to 7.7590 by market open -- from 7.7170 at the previous close -- and one British pound traded for 8.6110 Turkish liras versus 8.5790 at Tuesday's close.
The price of Brent oil dropped slightly to $77.52 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Wednesday, compared to $78.15 at the end of Tuesday -- climbing from around $66 at the beginning of 2018.
