ANKARA
Turkey’s benchmark stock index made gains to close Thursday at a new all-time high of 1,819.23 points.
After starting the day at 1,819.69 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index jumped 6.93 points, or 0.38%, from Wednesday’s close of 1,812.30 points.
The BIST 100’s lowest value during the day was 1,798.96 points, while the daily high was 1,834.51 points.
The total market value of the index was over 1.46 trillion Turkish liras ($115.8 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of more than 31.8 billion Turkish liras ($2.65 billion).
A total of 47 stocks on the index rose and 53 fell compared to Wednesday’s close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by polyester producer Sasa, petrochemical firm Petkim, and private lender Garanti BBVA.
Shares of pharmaceutical firm Turk Ilac Serum performed the best, rising 10%, while stocks of budget airline Pegasus dropped the most, 6.67%.
One ounce of gold traded at $1,789 as of 6.48 p.m. local time (1548GMT), up 0.03% from the previous close, according to official data.
The price of Brent crude oil was down 0.23% to $82.06 per barrel.
