Turkish ports handle 369.8M tons of cargo in first 8 months

Turkish ports handled nearly 369.8 million tons of cargo in the first eight months of the year, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu said Thursday.

Uraloglu said on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal that cargo handled at the country’s ports during the January-August period exceeded the level recorded in the same period last year.

The total volume of cargo handled reached 369.79 million tons, he said.

Container throughput totaled 9.57 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), Uraloglu added.

“Liquid bulk cargo handling amounted to 112.66 million tons, while general cargo handling was recorded at 45.26 million tons,” he said.

The volume of containerized cargo handled totaled 98.76 million tons, he added.

“We continue to strengthen our ports, increase the capacity of our maritime trade, and contribute to Türkiye’s production and exports,” Uraloglu said.
