ANKARA
Turkiye's benchmark stock index ended Thursday at 1,957.90 points, down 2.21% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 1,995.68 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 44.34 points from Wednesday's close of 2,002.24 points.
The index's lowest value during the day was 1,949.21 points, while its daily high was 2,013.64.
The total market value of BIST 100 was around 1.57 trillion Turkish liras ($116.7 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of over 22.7 billion Turkish liras ($1.67 billion).
During the fourth transaction day of the week, eight stocks on the index rose, 91 fell, and one remained unchanged, compared to Wednesday's close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and private lenders Garanti BBVA and Yapi Kredi.
Machinery parts producer Parsan was the best performer with its shares up 10%, while stocks of waste-to-energy firm Biotrend saw the sharpest drop – 6.58%.
Price of one ounce of gold was $1,800 at 6.36 p.m. local time (1536 GMT), while Brent crude oil was sold for $89.16 per barrel.
