ANKARA
The UK unemployment rate has dropped to its lowest level since 2008, according to a report from the Office of National Statistics on Wednesday.
The unemployment rate fell to 5.6 percent in the first quarter from 6.8 percent for the same period in the previous year, the report said.
The number of unemployed people fell by 35,000 in the first quarter to 1.83 million.
Total average weekly earnings rose 1.9 percent in the quarter, compared with the same period the year before.
