Ukraine said Friday its forces struck two Russian offshore drilling platforms in the Caspian Sea in overnight attacks aimed at reducing Moscow’s military and economic capacity.
According to Ukraine’s General Staff, the targets included the ice-resistant fixed platform (LSP-2) at the Valery Graifer field, known as Rakushechnoye, and the ice-resistant fixed platform (LSP-1) at the Yuri Korchagin field.
“The platforms are located in the northern Caspian Sea, nearly 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) from the front line, and serve as an important link in supplying fuel and lubricants to Russia’s occupying forces,” said in a statement published on Telegram.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said Friday its forces intercepted and destroyed nine unmanned aerial vehicles over the Caspian Sea.
Moscow has not commented on Ukraine’s specific claims, and independent verification was not immediately possible due to the ongoing conflict.
