Belgium could record its hottest summer since weather records began in 1833, with the average seasonal temperature expected to reach around 20.2-20.3C (68.4-68.5F), meteorologist David Dehenauw said Friday.
Dehenauw, of the Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium, told VRT NWS that summer 2026 would likely surpass the previous record set in 2018, when the seasonal average reached 19.8C (67.6F).
The institute is expected to release the final figures on Sept. 1.
