Poland ends air operations after Russian drone strikes on Ukraine

Poland has concluded military aviation operations conducted in response to Russian drone strikes targeting areas in western Ukraine, the Polish Armed Forces said early Tuesday.

Polish ground-based air defense units and radar reconnaissance systems have also returned to their standard operational activities following the heightened readiness period, according to the military.

"We inform that no violation of the airspace of the Republic of Poland has been recorded," it added.

Earlier, Poland announced that it launched military aviation operations in its airspace in response to Russian jet-powered unmanned aerial vehicles carrying out strikes on Ukrainian territory.

The military said they are closely monitoring the situation and that forces remain ready to respond immediately if necessary.

A drone struck a petrol station in Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, early Tuesday, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

Poland, a NATO member, has repeatedly increased the readiness of its air defenses and military aviation when Russian attacks have taken place close to its territory.
