LONDON
Police said Saturday they were responding to two incidents on London Bridge and Borough Market amid reports of a van mowing down pedestrians.
“We are dealing with an incident on #LondonBridge,” Metropolitan Police said on Twitter.
In another tweet later, authorities said armed officers were also responding to a separate incident at Borough Market.
A number of media outlets reported injuries and gun fire but authorities have yet to release any official statement on the nature of the incidents.
“We are aware of reports on social media. We will release facts when we can - our info must be accurate,” according to a separate tweet by police.
National Rail wrote on Twitter that “trains unable to call at London Bridge, Waterloo East, London Charing Cross and London Cannon Street”.
London Bridge is now closed.
