The Romanian prime minister said on Friday it is a "difficult moment in terms of political stability" after seven ministers from the Social Democratic Party (PSD) stepped down from the coalition government.
Speaking to Europa FM, Ilie Bolojan said that he is experiencing "a feeling of misunderstanding" regarding the PSD's exit from the government.
"Why do you have to generate another crisis?", he asked himself, according to a report by broadcaster Antena 3 CNN.
Describing the current atmosphere as a "difficult moment in terms of political stability," he pointed out that the country has already faced several crises, from the deficit to the impacts of the Gulf War.
"We also have this crisis that affects the government's performance, the predictability of decisions. It's not a comfortable situation," said the prime minister.
"I have a feeling that when you make an agreement, a contract, a coalition protocol, that you respect, you expect others to respect it too. That didn't happen," he added.
Seven ministers from the PSD stepped down after the party withdrew its political support for Bolojan, paving the way for the political deadlock.
It came after the PSD announced on April 20 that it had decided to withdraw its political support for Bolojan, who took office in June 2025.
