UK on course for hung Parliament as Labour leads in seats: Poll

Britain is on course for a hung Parliament if an election were held tomorrow, with no party projected to secure an overall majority and Labour expected to win the most seats, according to a new poll released Thursday.

The Labour Party has returned to first place, while the Conservatives have climbed to second and Reform UK has fallen to third, according to a YouGov poll conducted for Sky News and The Times.

The projection puts the UK on course for a hung Parliament, with no party securing an overall majority.

Labour would need support from more than one other party to secure a majority in the House of Commons.

The projections were based on polling of 14,000 people conducted between Aug. 23 and Sept. 18.

The poll also suggested that Plaid Cymru in Wales would more than triple the number of seats it won at the last general election.

Earlier this year, Plaid Cymru secured a landslide victory in the Senedd election, ending Labour’s century-long position as Wales’ largest party.

The next general election must be called by August 2029, although the prime minister can choose to hold it earlier.
