JERUSALEM
An Israeli delegation arrived in Cairo on Tuesday to resume indirect talks with Palestinian negotiators over proposals for a durable Gaza Strip ceasefire.
"The Israeli delegation arrived from Tel Aviv and was received by Egyptian intelligence officials," a security source at Cairo International Airport told Anadolu Agency, requesting anonymity.
Palestinian and Israeli negotiators had resumed indirect talks in Cairo on Monday after a new three-day ceasefire – brokered by Egypt – came into effect one day earlier.
Israeli negotiators briefly returned to Israel on Monday night to brief government officials on the talks, returning to Cairo on Tuesday.
No violations of the ceasefire have been reported thus far.
A first round of talks stalled last week over Israel's refusal to lift its years-long blockade of the Gaza Strip and allow the establishment of a Gaza seaport.
At least 1943 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 10,000 others injured in devastating Israeli attacks on the blockaded coastal territory since July 7.
Thousands of homes in Gaza have also been destroyed over the same period.
At least 64 Israeli soldiers, meanwhile, have been killed in battles with Palestinian fighters in the Gaza Strip, while three Israeli civilians have been killed by Palestinian rocket fire, according to official Israeli figures.
