At least 10 people have lost their lives after consuming tainted alcoholic beverages in Iran’s southern Hormozgan province.
A total of 118 people have suffered poisoning, Fatma , a spokeswoman for the province’s medical agency, said.
Muhammed Sharifi, deputy head of the Hormozgan provincial police directorate, said that investigations were currently underway into the incident.
The sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages are prohibited Muslim citizens in Iran.
Under Iranian law, those who produce, buy or sell alcoholic beverages can be sentenced to imprisonment and/or .
