Three Syrian soldiers were killed and others injured in an explosion Thursday at a site in the southern province of Daraa containing remnants from the country's 13-year civil war that ended in late 2024.
The SANA news agency, citing an unnamed military source, said the blast occurred at a location where the wartime materials collected from different areas of the province had been stored.
“The explosion resulted in the death of three Syrian soldiers, the injury of others, and material damage at the site,” the source said.
Despite the end of Syria’s 14-year civil war, remnants of war continue to pose a latent threat to civilians, as unexploded ordnance and old munitions remain scattered across parts of the country.
