At least nine security officials were killed and three others injured Saturday in Daesh bomb attacks in west of Mosul, police told Anadolu Agency.
Iraqi security official Safa al-Behadli told Anadolu Agency that Daesh detonated four bomb-laden vehicles at a location where the police forces were stationed in Mosul's west side.
He said that two military vehicles were also destroyed in the attacks.
In October, the Iraqi army -- backed by U.S.-led coalition airstrikes and local allies on the ground -- began a wide-ranging operation to retake Mosul, Daesh’s last bastion in northern Iraq, which the militant group overran in 2014.
