Israeli warplanes targeted a Hamas position in the blockaded Gaza Strip early Thursday, according to local media reports.
Fighter jets reportedly struck a military site affiliated with the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s armed wing.
It remains unclear whether the strike -- about which the Israeli army has yet to issue a statement -- resulted in casualties.
Late Wednesday, the army announced that its Iron Dome air-defense system had intercepted a rocket fired from Gaza at southern Israel’s Eshkol settlement bloc.
According to Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee, the rocket was successfully shot down.
