The Israeli army Thursday raided the campus of a university in the occupied West Bank, according to university administrators.
In a statement, the government-run Palestine Technical University, located in the West Bank city of Tulkarm, said Israeli army troops had stormed the campus early Thursday morning and ransacked its main administration building.
Israeli troops, the statement read, "stole electronic appliances and archived footage from the university’s cameras".
University administrators said Thursday’s raid was only the latest in a series of violations against the campus by the Israeli authorities -- moves which they said constituted a "threat to students’ lives and security".
According to the statement, the Israeli army has raided the university campus at least 85 times since 2000, going on to note that the frequency of the raids had been stepped up over the last two years.
There was no immediate comment by the Israeli authorities regarding the allegations.
