US President Donald Trump said the United States achieved all its military objectives in Iran and described the situation as a “complete victory” following a ceasefire, Sky News reported early Monday.
In a brief phone call with the broadcaster, Trump said the ceasefire was “very good” and reiterated that US goals had been met.
“We’ve done everything we want to do militarily,” he said.
Trump also said a 10-point plan proposed by Tehran appeared to provide a basis for negotiations.
“They’re very good points, and most of them have been fully negotiated,” he said, adding that he would not describe Iran’s demands as “maximalist.”
He warned, however, that if the ceasefire and negotiations do not hold, the US is prepared to resume military action.
Trump said that the if the ceasefire and negotiations "are not good, we will go right back to it very easily."
