KIDAL
Anadolu Agency correspondent entered the positions of armed groups which withdrew 50 km away of Kidal city in the north of Mali following the military operations of France.
The armed groups are laying ambush and planting bombs on the possible roads French soldiers and African forces will use.
The groups are carrying anti-aircraft weapons, and hiding in caves in the region, while camouflaging their cars by pouring olive oil and then sand on them.
The rebel, which broke out in Mali in January 2012, spread due to vacuum of authority which appeared after the military coup in March. Half of the country got under control of the rebels.
UN Security Council authorized joint military force of African countries to intervene in armed groups in the north of the country, however, when Malian government called on help prior to the intervention, France initiated air attacks on January 12. Gao, Timbuktu and Kidal cities in the north of Mali were taken back from armed groups after the joint operation by France and Malian army.
Ansaruddin, Tawhid and Jihad Movement, and Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb are three biggest armed groups which ask religious-based administration to be set up in the country.
