ANBAR
At least 10 Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant militants were killed in Iraq's Anbar province on Sunday, security sources said.
“Iraqi security forces repelled ISIL’s attack in eastern Ramadi’s al-Sajaryah area and killed at least five militants,” Anbar Operations Force commander Qasim al-Muhammad said.
Separately, another five ISIL militants were killed in Fallujah.
Security forces said they demolished three houses believed to be used by terrorists, destroyed four trucks and defused 60 bomb set-ups within the past 48 hours.
Iraq has been gripped by a security vacuum since June 2014, when ISIL stormed the northern province of Mosul and declared what it calls a “caliphate” in Iraq and Syria.
