Bosniak member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegovic called on the international community to protect the people of Syria from crimes and violence committed by Bashar al-Assad's forces.
"The use of chemical weapons against civilians is a crime against humanity,“ Izetbegovic told AA.
"Every UN member country has a collective and individual obligation and responsibility to protect civilians in Syria, and to secure the respect for international norms. There is a moral imperative to act now and to act strongly in order to stop the crimes, and to punish the perpetrators. The violence can be stopped only with the use of force. If civilains are not protected, the Syrian tragedy will be another dark spot in the history of human kind,“ Izetbegovic said.
Izetbegovic added that the Syrian people should have the ability to make choices about their own future.
"Political and diplomatic solutions are not possible if there is no military balance in the field,“ he concluded.
