China has expressed "grave concern" over former U.S. spy agency contractor Edward Snowden's allegations that the United States hacked Chinese mobile phone firms and two of China's universities.
"We express grave concern about the recent disclosures of the U.S. government's cyber attacks on China. This once again proves that China is a victim of cyber attacks," China's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said in the statement.
Hua said China has "made representations to the United States" added that it "opposes all forms of cyber attacks".
Snowden, a former defense contractor and leaker of classified surveillance programs of the US National Security Agency (NSA), was charged with espionage, theft and conversion of government property. Snowden left Hong Kong for Moscow on Sunday and awaits at the transit area in Sheremetyevo International Airport, sources said.
