KIEV
Ukraine's parliament on Thursday decided to postpone until next week a debate over a draft law that proposes constitutional changes.
Volodymyr Rybak, speaker of Ukraine's parliament 'Verkhovna Rada', said that parliament members agreed on debating the draft constitution during next week's parliament gathering.
Rybak also mentioned that parliament members also decided to form a constitutional commission.
Opposition parliament members said that they would pass the proposed law for making a change in the constitution in two days' time.
Regions Party group leader Alexander Yefremov said if a consensus could be set on constitutional change. The new constitution's approval may take until September.
Rybak yesterday adjourned the session after failing to reach a consensus over the draft law.
Earlier, Ukraine's political opposition wanted the parliament to begin discussing a new draft bill about a possible return to the 2004 constitution, which would more evenly balance powers between president and the parliament.
