Permanent representatives of France and Britain at the United Nations (UN) presented letters to the UN Secretariat General for an investigation on allegations concerning the use of chemical weapons in Syrian cities of Aleppo and Damascus in three separate incidents.
In a press briefing held on Thursday, the Spokesperson for the UN Secretary General, Martin Nesirky underlined that they received the letters by France and Britain and that Secretary General Ban Ki-moon would evaluate them.
Syria's Permanent Representative at the UN, Bashar Jaferi had argued that the Syrian opposition used chemical weapons on the civilians in Aleppo and asked the UN to investigate the incident.
Ban Ki-moon, in return, told the Syrian government that the allegations would be closely studied.
Syrian opposition groups had argued that it was the Syrian regime who used chemical weapons in Aleppo and Damascus.
