TEHRAN (AA) - Nominations for the 11th presidential election in Iran, which would take place in June, would officially start on Tuesday.
Iranian Interior Ministry would start accepting the applications for the presidential candidates on Tuesday after months long debates on some candidates.
Amongst the candidates are Secretary General of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili, Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.
According to the Iranian Interior Ministry, 67 thousand election offices would be available for the application process and other election activities. Concurrent to the presidential election, there will also be city government council elections for cities, districts and towns.
There are many former or continuing ministers, representatives and bureaucrat candidates for the nomination of presidency.
Here are some names expected to be nominated for the president's position in Iran:
"Deputy Parliament Speaker of Iran Muhammad Hassan Abu Turabi Ferd, head of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines Yahya Ale-Eshagh, former Minister of Justice and Member of Protecting Council of Constitution Gholam-Hossein Elham, Vice President of Assembly Mohammad Reza Bahonar, former Minister of Health Kamran Bagheri Lankarani, head of State Council and former Interior Minister Mostafa Pourmohammadi, representative and former Minister of Health Masoud Pezeshkian, Secretary General of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili, former minister Eshaq Jahangiri Kouhshahi, Chairman of City Council of Tehran Mehdi Chamran, former Minister of Education Hamid-Reza Haji Babaee, former President of State Council Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, Secretary General of Iranian Hezbollah Mohammad Baqer Harrazi, former Secretary General of Iran's Supreme National Security Council and nuclear chief negotiator Hassan Rouhani, former commander of Revolutionary Guards and economist Mohsin Razi, representative Alireza Zakani, former Minister Mohammad Saeedi-Kia, representative Hassan Subhani, former minister Sayyid Mohammad Kazem Shariatmadari, Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, former Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref, former intelligence Minister Ali Fallahian, Mayor of Tehran city Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, former Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran Ali Larijani, former minister of petrol Masoud Mir Kazemi, former executive assistant of presidency Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei, former Housing Minister Ali Nikzad, Islamic revolution guide, foreign policy advisor and former Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Velayati."
The Council of Protectors of Constitution will decide whether the candidates for nomination are qualified for the position.
