WASHINGTON
Prime Minister Irsen Kucuk of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said, "time for solving the Cyprus issue has come and it even has passed. Turkish Cypriots do not have patience to wait for another 50 years anymore."
Kucuk, who is in Washington, to hold talks over the Cyprus issue came together with Eric Rubin, a high level diplomat at the US Department of State, and held talks with members of the US Congress.
Kucuk delivered a speech at the "Belated Union in Cyprus" titled panel discussion organized by Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA).
Kucuk said that Greek Cypriot administration was the side which did not have a will to find a solution to Cyprus issue.
That is why the Greek Cypriot administration has to be encouraged to go back to the negotiation table to resume the process, he noted.
Prime Minister Kucuk explained that after 50 years of time, there were two states in the island and noted that the solution would only be possible under a federal roof based on bi-communal, bi-regional and political equation.
Upon a question, Kucuk said he knew that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US President Barack Obama would discuss the Cyprus issue during their meetings at the White House.
After his meetings, Kucuk proceeded to New York.
