The Egyptian prosecution has issued arrest warrant for Muslim Brotherhood Guide Mohammad Badei, his deputy Khairat el-Shater and all members of the Brotherhood’s guidance office, a judicial source told Anadolu Agency Thursday.
He said the Muslim Brotherhood leaders will be facing charges of inciting violence.
Sources earlier said Badei was under house arrest in Marsa Matrough.
Saad el-Katatni, the chairman of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), and Muslim Brotherhood deputy guide Mohammad Rashad Bayoumi were arrested in 6 of October City Wednesday.
They are both being held at the Tora Prisons area, according to Egypt’s state-run Middle East News Agency (MENA).
Security forces were reportedly trying to locate and arrest a number of other senior Muslim Brotherhood figures including Essam el-Aryan and Mohammad el-Beltagui.
The crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood and its FJP came shortly after Defense Minister Abdel Fatah El Sisi announced Wednesday that the Constitutional Court head will serve as interim president until early presidential elections are held.
He added that a roadmap for the future of Egypt also included temporarily suspending the constitution, forming a coalition government of technocrats and holding early presidential elections.
