PAPHOS
Nearly 350 people, thought to be refugees from Syria, have been rescued after a small boat carrying them almost sank off the coast of the Greek Cypriot administration, the Cyprus Mail reported.
Limassol harbor master Giorgos Pouros told the website the refugees, 293 adults and 52 children, had been taken aboard the Salamis Filoxenia cruise liner near Paphos and were in good health.
"It was a quite a difficult operation," Kikis Vasiliou, director of Salamis Cruises was quoted as saying. "All the passengers are safe."
The Salamis Filoxenia was expected to dock in Limassol at around 21.00 local time (19.00 GMT) where medical staff were waiting. The refugees will be taken to an army facility.
