Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that Syria crisis cannot be solved through military methods.
Lavrov met Monday with Syrian Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Qadri Jamil in the Russian capital, Moscow.
Lavrov pointed out that concrete measures should be taken for a planned international peace conference later this year in Geneva, adding that a substantial part of the Syrian opposition, including the Syrian National Coalition, did not want to establish dialogue.
"The parties, who have an influence on the Syrian opposition, should quit this attitude," Lavrov said.
An international peace conference on Syria in June 2012 in Geneva recognized the need for a transition government based on the mutual consent between the Assad regime and the opposition groups.
