JERUSALEM
U.S. National Security Adviser Susan Rice is expected to visit Israel next week for talks with Israeli officials on Iran's nuclear file, Israeli sources said Saturday.
The visit comes amid reports about progress in nuclear negotiations between Iran and world powers.
Rice will be accompanied during her visit to Israel by U.S. Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman, who leads her country's delegation in nuclear talks with Iran, Israel Radio said.
A few months ago, world powers and Iran signed a deal aiming at curbing the country's nuclear activities.
The EU suspended some economic sanctions against Tehran after a green light from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on January 20.
Under the Geneva deal, the permanent members of the Security Council plus Germany undertook to provide Iran with some sanction relief in exchange for Tehran agreeing to limit certain aspects of its nuclear activities for a six-month period.
The sides aim to reach a permanent agreement before July 2014. Israel, however, opposes nuclear talks with Iran.
