ANKARA
Russia expressed serious concern Monday over the decision taken at the "Friends of Syrian Group Core Meeting" held in Doha to provide military support to Syrian opposition.
"One must notice that the aim to provide, in fact, unlimited military support for the Syrian opposition - announced in Doha and in practice already carried out - completely contradicts efforts for a swift political solution in Syria," said the statement released by Russian Foreign Ministry.
It was also said that statements of Russia instigating tension in Syria by supporting Assad, didn't reflect the truth.
Russia also reiterated the Syria crisis could only be resolved by political means and called on all parties to support the Second Geneva Conference.
The Friends of Syria group, which brings together Western and Arab states as well as Turkey, agreed in Qatar over the weekend to "provide urgently all the necessary material and equipment to the opposition on the ground".
