MOSCOW
Russia's upper house of parliament - the Federation Council - on Wednesday called on Western politicians to stop interfering in Ukraine, a day after a summit between the European Union and Russia.
The council voiced concern over the current situation, saying the opposition-provoked unrest had nothing to do with peaceful protests.
"The ongoing well-organized campaign in Ukraine seeks to overthrow the legitimate authorities," the statement said.
"The Ukrainian people and their president will find the right way to maintain order in the country,” the Russian parliamentarians said.
The EU-Russia Summit was held in Brussels on Tuesday amid the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
The two sides have been at odds since the Eastern Partnership Summit in late November, when Kiev - under intense pressure from Moscow - refused to sign the Association Agreement and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) with the EU.
