Egypt’s army chief Gen. Abdul Fattah El-Sisi thanked Saudi Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud for his stance in support of Egypt.
The Saudi prince received a phone call from Sisi, according to Saudi Arabia News Agency (SPA). Sisi extended thanks and appreciation to King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud for his support.
King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud had expressed his support to Egypt in the fight against "terrorism" earlier.
"The kingdom stands with the Egyptian people in the fight against terrorism," the Saudi King had said.
Egypt's first democratically elected President Mohamed Morsi was deposed in a July 3 military coup. The country has been in turmoil since then.
The two sit-ins staged by supporters of ousted President Morsi were violently dispersed by security forces last week, leaving hundreds of protesters killed and thousands more wounded.
