LONDON
The Core Group of the Friends of Syria and the senior leaders of the Syrian National Coalition came together at a meeting in British capital London on Friday.
A statement released from UK's foreign office covered the bullet points from the meeting. The statement noted that the decision of the National Coalition to take part at the Geneva II Conference on January 22 was welcomed, and moreover, support for the National Coalition leadership was rementioned.
In addition, "We reject Assad's claim that only he can defeat the extremists" was expressed in the statement and touched that the rise of extremism was a threat to all.
Foreign office statement also called for Hezbollah and all other foreign fighters and forces to withdraw from Syria.
Foreign Ministers of the Core Group of the Friends of Syria came together in London on October 22 where Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu also participated.
