CAIRO
President of the National Coalition of the Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces Hadi al-Bahra arrived in Cairo on Friday from Turkey, diplomatic sources have said.
They said al-Bahra would spend two days in the Egyptian capital, during which he would meet with Egyptian officials to discuss a political solution to the crisis in Syria.
"Al-Bahra is expected to meet with Arab League chief Nabil al-Arabi on Saturday," one diplomat – who met al-Bahra at Cairo International Airport – told The Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity.
He added that the Syrian opposition figure would then meet with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
During his stay in Cairo, al-Bahra is expected to discuss a sought-for political solution to the years-long Syria crisis, which is said to have left some 200,000 people dead and millions of others displaced.
A source with the National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces told AA on Thursday that al-Bahra, while in Cairo, would discuss an Egyptian initiative for ending the crisis.
