CAIRO
One army soldier was killed on Wednesday by a gunshot to the chest while manning a security checkpoint in Arish, the capital of Egypt's North Sinai Governorate, a security source told Anadolu Agency.
In a separate incident the same day, a policeman was killed and another injured when unknown gunmen opened fire on their vehicle in central Arish.
The latest fatalities bring to 34 the number of civilians and security personnel killed in militant attacks in Sinai since July 5, two days after the army ousted elected President Mohamed Morsi, according to a tally prepared by AA based on security sources.
