The UN team in Syria, which investigated earlier claims of chemical weapons use, departed on early Saturday from Damascus, capital of Syria.
According to the information taken by AA correspondent, UN mission, which had been inspecting a suspected chemical weapons attack in Syria for a week, went to Beirut on early Saturday morning. On the other hand, UN disarmament chief Angela Kane departed from Damascus en route to New York on Friday to share the findings with UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon.
UN team in Syria started the inspection on Monday.
Ban to come together with Kane today in New York
Ban's spokesperson announced that the Secretary-General was scheduled to meet the High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, Ms. Angela Kane, on Saturday, 31 August.
A statement said that the spokesperson would brief reporters on that meeting at about 12.30 pm (EDT) on Saturday in the press briefing room.
United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon met on Friday with the five permanent members of UN Security Council.
