UNITED NATIONS
Secretary-General of United Nations Ban Ki Moon will meet Thursday Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
UN spokesman Martin Nesirky said on Wednesday Ban and Lavrov would hold a working dinner on the main topics of the day, Syria plainly one of them and efforts to convene a peace conference in Geneva to try to reach a negotiated solution expected to be high on the agenda.
Geneva-II conference can not take place due to the disagreement on preconditions though the sides show goodwill on participation.
Assad regime's seizuring military and psychological superiority against the opposition groups is considered as another reason for not being able to gather for the conference with the help of Hezbollah and some other countries' support.
Preparations of Geneva-II conference are expected to be on the agenda during Lavrov's visit to Washington on Friday.
