ANKARA
Arsenal's Spanish defensive midfielder Mikel Arteta underwent surgery on his left ankle Thursday and will be out of action for three months.
According to a statement on the club's official website, the 32-year-old captain will undergo a rehabilitation period after the operation.
Arteta joined Arsenal for €12 million ($13.97 million) in the summer of 2011, after leaving Everton, another English premier league team.
This season, he scored one goal and produced one assist in 12 appearances.
