LONDON (AA) - Turkish soccer club Galatasaray's Chairman Unal Aysal stated that he was a supporter of the European Super League idea and it was a "must".
Aysal who was in London to attend "Leaders in Football" conference on Thursday spoke to BBC's World Football and replied the questions of Alan Green.
Assessing the news about the team's former coach Fatih Terim and new coach Roberto Mancini, Aysal stated that both coaches were successful. "Fatih Terim did not leave because he was not successful, he left because he also wanted to manage Turkish National Team. He was hesitating, somehow I helped him to go."
He touched onto the new coach Mancini and said, "I hope Mancini will bring another mentality and another vision to Galatasaray."
Upon a question in regards to Didier Drogba, Aysal said, "I must tell you that Didier Drogba is doing a really good job in Galatasaray. He is not just playing for himself but he is also managing a team inside the game. He has huge experience and he has a control on the situation. I think he is doing a very good job and I am very happy to have him in my team".
Green asked him, "how badly was the Turkish football damaged after the match fixing scandals", Aysal replied saying, "Although Turkish football was not involved in this problem (let's call it like that), Turkish football suffered a lot. Not only the clubs, but also investors in the football... Shares of the football clubs in the stock market have gone down tremendously."
Furthermore, Aysal said, he was a supporter of the European Super League idea and noted, "European Super League is a must. UEFA has to do some step forward and put this in the right place. Because football is a growing industry. European Super League will put things in a much difference place."
