2014 FIFA World Cup winners Germany cruised past Gibraltar 4-0 in their UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying stage Group D match played at Grundig Stadion in Nuremberg on Friday.
Home team Germany took the lead in the 12th minute when Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller finished from inside the box.
German midfielder Karim Bellarabi made a cross from the right -- but hit the crossbar. Muller followed the rebound and neatly placed the ball in the net: 1-0.
In the 29th minute, Muller doubled the gap for Germany and made it 2-0. He received a low cross from Lukas Podolski and easily tapped the ball into the goal.
Just under ten minutes later, German star Mario Gotze made it 3-0 in the 38th minute. The Bayern Munich attacking midfielder skipped past a flurry of Gibraltar defenders in the area and found the net.
Visitors Gibraltar, however, came close to scoring at the end of the first half. Liam Walker made a long range drive, but German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer saved the ball.
Gibraltar then scored an own goal in the 67th minute. Yogan Santos attempted to intercept Podolski's cross, however he ended up tapping the ball into his own net, making the final score 4-0.
